About hueflo
hueflo (虚实之间, “between real and made”) is an online photo studio. You upload a photo, pick one part of it (your pet, the person, the background, or an area you brush over) and choose one of 15 media. hueflo uses generative AI to remake only that part as embroidery, needle felt, clay, origami, linocut, watercolor and more, while the rest stays a real photograph.
Why only one part
A filter over the whole photo repaints the memory along with everything else. We wanted the opposite: the dog still lying on the real picnic blanket, only now it is stitched in thread. Putting the handmade next to the real makes both stand out, and that is where the Chinese name comes from.
How it works
- Each medium has a written recipe describing what the material should look like and what to avoid, for example no embroidery hoop, no window frame around stained glass and no faint watercolor wash over the whole photo. The style guides explain each one.
- Every result is reviewed automatically for effects that spill outside the part you picked, and you can ask for up to 2 targeted refinements of a picture.
- The AI redraws the whole image, so the parts you did not pick stay photographic but not pixel-identical. We say so plainly.
- A failed edit refunds its credits automatically. Your first edit is free; prices are listed on the home page and on every style guide.
Where the examples come from
Photos people upload are private to their account and are never shown. The source photos in the gallery and the style guides were generated from text descriptions, then edited through exactly the same pipeline as any customer edit, without retouching. Examples that leaked outside their scope were discarded, not fixed by hand.
Who runs it
hueflo is designed, built and run by an independent developer, Jianxun Qin. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, edits are sent through OpenRouter to the model provider, and card payments are handled by Creem; the Privacy Policy has the details. The interface is available in Chinese, English, Japanese and Russian, and the studio also opens inside Telegram.
What we hold ourselves to
- Photos are private by default, have no public links, are not used to train our own models and can be deleted at any time.
- No invented reviews or ratings, and no features described as working before they have been verified.
- Public guides and the gallery may show ads; the studio and payment pages never do.
